Community Service

The SkillsUSA Rockdale Career Academy Chapter will be participating in the Stocking Fund program at Target off of Highway 20 in Conyers, Georgia on December 12, 2010. We encourage all members to attend. This is a chance for Community Service hours for you, the member, and It makes the club have a good impression on our community. Again Please Attend, and Thank-you.

Our very own RCA SkillsUSA chapter was honored at the Rockdale County School Board Meeting for the Awards we won at the first ever SkillsUSA Champions Rally at the Georgia State Fair. They received recognition from the Superintendent here in Rockdale County, Dr. King.

The first ever SkillsUSA Champions Rally at the Georgia National Fairgrounds was a huge success!
Close to 900 members and advisors from 50 schools from across Georgia joined together in Reaves
Arena for a day of motivation and competition! Keynote Speaker, Keith Brown was exceptional and
captured the audience’s attention and included many members of the audience in his presentation.
Cash Prize Premiums for each Contest: 1st place - $50, 2nd place - $40, 3rd place - $30, 4th place
- $20, 5th-7th place - $10, and 8th – 10th place - $5 each were awarded to the winners in the six
different competitive areas: Chapter Recruitment Display, Chapter Recruitment Poster, Career
Pathway Display, Career Pathway Poster, T-Shirt, and Chapter Banner. The placements for each
chapter were calculated and the chapter with the highest accumulated points is awarded the Georgia
National Fair Superior Chapter plaque and $500.00 – congratulations goes to Kendrick High School
on receiving this award! The second place chapter is awarded the Georgia National Fair Reserve
Superior Chapter plaque and $250.00 – congratulations goes to Shaw High School on receiving this
award! All prizes are sponsored by the Georgia National Fairgrounds the total of combined prize
money is almost $2,000!

SkillsUSA Rockdale is packing and heading to Kansas City this week to compete at the SkillsUSA Nationals Level in the Prepared Speech, Audio/Radio Production, and Product Development categories. Lets wish them the best as they do their best.

People interested in SkillsUSA and attend Rockdale Career Academy in Rockdale County, can join in the Upcoming 2010-2011 School year, starting in August. There will be a membership fee of 20 dollars.
