Important Information for NLSC

Immediate Attention!
  • ALL COMPETITORS must complete an online survey and resume (www.skillsusa.net/newresume).  If you don’t complete the survey and online resume, YOU CANNOT COMPETE!  Bring a hard copy of your resume on the trip. Also e-mail a copy of your resume to Ms. Mamane at amamane@rockdale.k12.ga.us.
  • Bring your cups order forms to Mr. Dinsmoor to GET PAID!  Mr. Dinsmoor will be at RCA at various times this week. Next week, he is only available Monday morning (6/13) or Friday afternoon (6/17). If you want some $$$ to take with you Kansas City, get this done ASAP.
  • Fill out the contact form on www.rcabvp.com. I need to have this information printed out the Sunday BEFORE the trip.

Travel and Transportation
  • We will be meeting at the AirTran terminal NORTH (BLUE TERMINAL) at 7:00 AM Monday, June 20th. Wear your blue polo shirt.
  • Please bring only one piece of luggage. Carry-on items should meet TSA requirements. Go to http://www.airtran.com/travel_information.aspx to see what else you need to know BEFORE traveling.
  • We will have two minivans to transport students as needed.

At the NLSC
  • Make sure you have your official attire, especially your red blazer/wind breaker.
  • Make sure you have your winning attitude.
  • Community Service is a the Food Bank
  • The Amusement Park is $40. The baseball game is free.
  • Bring about $175 for food money.

This week at the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference, Rockdale Career Academy made its mark in the fabric of the state's most skilled individuals. Placing only Gold in 8 competitions, The Rockdale Career Academy chapter of skillsUSA has set new records for the school and the state, becoming the first school to win all of the competitions in the category, Video Production.

The following students are the First Place, Gold Medals winners who will go on to compete at the national level at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City June 19 – June 24.
Arsenio Archer and Jason Gellman – State Champion, Audio / Radio Production
Mike Bodine, Shavonn Bennette, Mattison Lakstigala, Karley Wilson – State Champion, Broadcast News Production
Mandy Dinsmoor – State Champion, Pin Design (Her design will be the official SkillsUSA state pin next year)
Amanda Moreno – State Champion, Prepared Speech (2nd year in a row)
Mark Cisco and Devin McPherson – State Champion, Television (Video) Production
Camryn Bradley and Chase Sickler – State Champion, Video Product Development (In addition to his medal, Camryn also produced a video that was played during the awards ceremony)
In addition to these state champions, RCA also produced two First Place state champions in the "state only" competitions:
Camryn Bradley, Amanda Moreno – First Place, Chapter Recruitment Video Production
Remmington Bayley and Mandy Dinsmoor – First Place, SkillsUSA Georgia Commercial
